An All-Round Kinda Guy
I like almost all music (don't care for country or rap, tho), but really there's only a few groups that I really love.I'm gonna try to get some music samples and stuff on here, for everyone to check out (especially of the bands most people prolly haven't heard of. I'll either go the way of RealAudio or MP3, depending on which is easier. They're NOT going to be high quality tho, cuz the whole point of you guys listening to em is to go out and pay for the records!
Oldies
It's a one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready now go kat go!Yeah, Elvis couldn't have said it better...I'm a big softie when it comes to oldies...I like the old slow songs by such greats as Johnny Rivers, the Temptations, Neil Diamond, and of course the Beatles. I've pretty much liked oldies since I was 12 or so, but kinda jumped into my hard and heavy teenage days. I'm startin to realize again how much I love those old tunes, however, and find myself singing along to them more than I ever have before...even with the weird looks I get from people =).
Sicko
In my humble opinion these guys definitely make up the best pop punk band ever assembled in the history of mankind. All of their songs have uniqueness, but maintain the same great Sicko sound. They're poppy, naturally, and range from slow and serious melodies to just goofing off and having fun tunes. These guys really are fantastic and I really recommend that everyone checks them out.
Smashing Pumpkins
These guys are my latest reincarted love. I fell in love with them again after a few hard times during my vacation in Germany. I'd listended to em back when Siamese Dream was released, and had a ton of their cds, but I gave them all away because I entered my stupid "I hate anything that more than 10 people listen to" stage (punk rock, basically). But I found myself humming the tune of Rocket while in Germany, so I decided to buy a copy of it. Billy Corgan's lyrics hit so close to home for me, and still do, even though I'm at back home in the US. I didn't really understand the music when I liked em a few years back, but now I think I understand it a lot more.I'm sure everyone and their dog at least knows who SP is, if not likes them too. So don't expect to hear and song samples on these guys... unless people ask for em.
More Punk Than Thou
Sorry, I'll admit right now that I'm not a "punk rocker". Honestly, I don't care for about 80% of the stuff, but I still like a few bands. I don't care if Green Day and MxPx are "sellouts", it's not gonna stop me from enjoying their music...the only "cause" I'm a part of is listening to what I know I like, not what some extreme leftist punk rocker in Canada tells me to like.That aside, I also dig Zoinks!, Everclear (well, some of their songs anyway), Black Happy, the Queers (especially the Surf Goddess 7"er), MxPx, Green Day, a bit of Pennywise, Less than Jake, and some others I can't think of at the moment.
